Pathways to Health
For years we’ve been lead to believe that the mind and body were separate entities, completely disconnected from each other. But in the last few years numerous studies in mind-body medicine have proven that our emotional and psychological health has an enormous impact on our bodies’ ability to function well and be healthy. This is a hugely empowering discovery that has enabled great leaps forward in the healthcare field, and one that is being embraced by doctors and health practitioners worldwide to make radical, lasting changes in their patients’ health and wellbeing.
The Mainspring Method helps you uncover the psycho-emotional root causes of illness, and gives you the tools you need to recover. Along the way you will learn how to adopt and maintain healthful beliefs and behaviour, and find enormous personal growth and freedom.
Mainspring is the next chapter in the evolution of mind-body medicine.
Mind-body medicine is a specialist area of medicine that recognises the powerful relationship between your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Used by doctors, integrative medicine practitioners and natural therapists worldwide, mind-body medicine has been proven to be highly effective in helping people find relief from the physical and emotional symptoms of ill health.
But there has always been a missing part of the puzzle: getting to the root of the psychological or emotional issues that trigger physical health issues. What if you could identify the psycho-emotional causes of ill-health, and use the tools of coaching and psychology to address them? The Mainspring Method does just that. The end result? True healing, not just dealing with the symptoms.
Perhaps you are battling ongoing health issues or chronic illness. Maybe you feel stuck on the never-ending merry-go-round of doctor’s appointments, or facing the prospect of a lifetime of dependence on medication or pain relief. Perhaps you have an intuition that your symptoms might be linked to psychological issues: maybe you’ve even tried some complementary therapies to help ease the symptoms. Perhaps you know, deep in your heart, that your illnesses have a deep-rooted cause and there must be someone out there who can help you find it – and help you feel like you again.
There is no doubt that when you take it to the next level, the mind and the body are connected, and that when those connections are intact and in balance you have health and when they’re broken you have disease.

How It Works

Causative analysis
Mainspring’s causative analysis looks at your physical symptoms and investigates your background for any past trauma, current stressors and unhelpful beliefs that could be contributing to your physical health issues.

Restorative psychology
Once your practitioner has started to identify the possible root causes of your health issues, you will embark upon the exciting journey of working together to resolve and repair them.

Self-care
The aim of Mainspring is to get you to the point where you can manage your own health effectively and sustainably. Your practitioner will teach you a number of evidence-based mind-body techniques that help to keep you on the healing path and manage your everyday stress.
Mainspring tools
For both the causative analysis and the restorative psychology stages your practitioner will choose from a number of modalities to find the best one for you. This could be anything from a range of coaching and psychology tools, including neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), to Time Line Therapy™, hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, counselling, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) relaxation techniques, or guided imagery. Our experienced practitioners also utilise their own intuitive insights in balance with evidence-based methods to bring a true, personal touch to the process. Whatever it takes to set you back on the path to wellness.
What Mainspring isn't

- Anti traditional/conventional medicine. The Mainspring Method can be a powerful support to both natural and western medicine.
- A lifelong commitment. The aim of Mainspring is to get you to a place of natural good health, as quickly and effectively as possible.
The Science behind Mainspring
The Mainspring Method is a healing modality that addresses the psychosocial contributors to poor health and disease, grounded in evidence-based health psychology. A complementary therapy, the Mainspring Method can be used as a critical component of Integrative Medicine (addressing the Mind-Body Connection) alongside other healing disciplines, and as a stand-alone method of self-healing and recovery from illness.
The Mainspring Method focuses on the psychosocial and emotional factors that may be contribute to a person’s health status. It is a unique treatment and recovery system that combines elements from a number of well-established, evidence-based disciplines including health psychology, mind-body medicine, psychosomatic medicine, and psychoneuroimmunology. Results can include significantly reduced symptomatology, enhanced energy, improved functioning, overall better holistic wellbeing, and in some cases complete recovery.
The Mainspring Method works on the principle that that a person’s health is influenced by a large number of factors, including their psychological, emotional and social wellbeing. Stress, trauma, unhappy relationships, poor lifestyle factors and behaviours, negative emotions and unhelpful thinking and belief patterns can all have a negative effect on physical health. Conversely, relaxation, self-awareness, healthy relationships, positive beliefs and thought patterns, good lifestyle factors and behaviours and emotional balance can all have a positive or protective effect on physical health.
The Mainspring Method is ideally used for chronic illness treatment, with conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, obesity, insomnia, menopause, cancer, infertility, chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid conditions, and heart disease. It can also be utilised for preventative care, mental health disorders, stress-related symptoms, rare disorders and substance addiction.
